Our Month in Photos {October}

Our October can be described with in 4 short words: Brewers, Family, Birthday and Halloween!
Septembers always feel like the busiest month (with 3 of the 4 birthdays happening in our family), but then October rolls around and I'm reminded just how much crazier life can get.

Our Milwaukee Brewers made it to the NLDS with a victory over the Cubs. Here's John and I getting ready to watch the game together. I jumped up and down so much during this one that I actually hurt my foot on the tile floor. Whoops!
The birthday festivities continued for this little man with the arrival of another birthday gift from Uncle Kurt - Hotwheels socks!
Sadly, another delayed gift was a reaction to Amoxicillin from the ear infection he had just after his birthday. Smiles in full swing even with a head to toe rash. Oh,and a husband that was traveling and a momma that was at her wit's end. Thank goodness for that smile!

Will came home with some more love letters from his friend on the bus. Kindergarteners sure do crack me up.
I surprised the boys with some gel Halloween clings for their windows. They had a great time decorating the windows in their room. Target dollar spot for the win with these and some shrinky dinks that they colored.
Here they are all ready to cheer on their Brewers in the NLDS! Even Stella was so excited that she had to take a nap.
And then John needed one too!

They thought building all the yellow and blue blocks into a baseball stadium would bring good luck. They also colored blue and yellow pictures and laid their flag on the floor. It seemed to be good luck because we kept on winning!
Next up, the boys and I took a trip to WI to visit family and friends during our fall break. One of the perks to starting school in early August... fall break comes in early October. The boys and I flew through Dallas and all went well, except for a storm that delayed our arrival until just before midnight. I had to wake two very sleepy boys up and get them through the airport so that my mom could take us to their beds.
I have very few pictures that I took of our trip home but we got to have a lazy Sunday afternoon watching the Packers with Auntie Melissa, visit our new friend's baby, have a get together with our "book club" friends, dinner at my brother's house while the boys played with my nieces, drinks at my other brother's house while spending time with my niece & nephew, I squeezed in a girl's movie night and the list goes on. We barely scratched the surface of all those friends and family we wanted to see but my heart is full from all the wonderful memories we had in that short time.

WI was great... but it felt so good to be home. Will missed his Stella girl and soaked up all the snuggles he could. The feeling was mutual.

And just like that, Grandma and Grandpa were back in town for Will's birthday weekend! We celebrated William turning 6 with a bowling birthday party. He chose a few school friends to invite and we had such a fun time! It's hard to believe we've entered the time where he is old enough to have a "friends" birthday party!

The night after the birthday party it was Trunk or Treat at our church. It was so fun to see how all of the trunks were decorated! The kids had so much fun and dressed themselves up in their homemade fireman costumes pulled together from things we already had on hand. My only contribution was using iron on letters to make their "chief" t-shirts - they picked everything else out themselves. It makes this wannabe-DIY mom so proud!

On William's actual birthday I drove him to school and we picked up donut holes on the way. His AMAZING teacher has a fake birthday cake with real candles that she lit while the class sang Happy Birthday. It was so sweet and adorable!

We had a low key evening with presents, pizza and an ice cream cake that I manufactured out of ice cream sandwiches and some green whipped cream I made. His smile says it all :)

Next up, Halloween! We carved pumpkins after dinner the next night. Will wanted an owl and John wanted a bat. They turned out so cute!
On Halloween, Will's class had a field trip to the pumpkin farm. I was able to join in the fun!

Halloween night means trick or treating! In WI, we had to take the tractor and cart out to get the boys thru our huge, spread out subdivision. This year, we were able to actually walk around with them from house to house. What a fun experience for all of us! Our neighbors love Halloween so there were lots of cool decorations and people hanging out in their driveways with treats for all the kids -and the grown ups too!
The boys changed their minds after Trunk or Treat and decided to be police officers on Halloween night. Luckily a successful trip to the Dollar Tree and the Halloween store brought police hats, badges and handcuffs. They picked out their own "police clothes" based on what they already had. Presenting the 2 cutest little police officers I ever did see :)

We finished trick or treating, let the boys each have a little candy and then it was off to bed. That's the only bummer of trick or treat being on a school night.
It was a very weekend full of family, friends, festivities and fun! And a really great way to top off a crazy, fun October!
