Father's Day
3:01 PM
Erik is a great dad. He's our provider. He is the wrestling buddy to the boys. He works all day and then comes home to play with his kids and give me a little break. Our kids are so lucky to have him as their dad. I try to remind him often how good we have it with him. So here's just another reminder of how much you mean to our family. Happy Father's Day!!!
We spent the morning eating breakfast, taking a few pictures to send to our dads and then trying to decide what we would be doing for the day. Erik decided that he wanted to go mini golfing with the boys, which is something Will had never done before. We headed off to National Golf Center and Will & Erik "played" a round of mini golf (which mostly meant watching Will chase after his golf ball with his putter). Dads golfed free on Father's Day so that was a nice little perk that we didn't expect! I strapped John to me in the Beco carrier and mini golfed as best I could with a baby strapped to me, which is why John is only in a couple pictures during the mini golf experience.
Erik's other request was to sit on the patio somewhere for lunch and have a beer. We hit up Revere's Wells Street Tavern well after the lunch hour (1:30 or so) and were excited to see that we could get a spot on the patio. The only problem was that they said their kitchen was 90 minutes behind on food orders, which we still don't know how something like that is even possible. If we had been without the boys we probably would have waited it out but we knew that they needed to eat and we didn't pack anything more than their milk to tide them over. So we punted and ended up heading over to Lumber Inn for a late lunch on the patio. The food was as good as we had heard it would be and Erik still got to enjoy his beer on the patio. As you can see from the photo below, the boys were pretty tuckered out from the busy day and both fell asleep in the car on the way home.
Our Father's Day gift to Erik was taking him to a Brewers game the following weekend, which also happened to be the boys' first game. We had a blast! We ate sub sandwiches in the parking lot in lieu of getting out a grill with 2 small kids.
Then we headed into the game and the boys sat really well for most of it. Someone was nice enough to take a family picture for us on our way out of the game but trying to get 2 small, overtired children to cooperate is sort of like herding cats (to borrow a phrase from my husband).
I also wish we would have thought to take a picture of Erik with the boys prior to going into the game because by the time we got back to the car and decided to do one they were both pretty much done for the afternoon and in dire need of some naps, as evidenced by the picture of sleeping Will in the car.
I hope Erik enjoyed his Father's Day celebration as much as we enjoyed celebrating him and the wonderful husband and father he is! We love you, Erik!
