Our Month in Photos {October}
3:30 PM
I was cleaning out the china cabinet and came across this picture of Will as a baby. The smile and overall resemblance between he and John at this age is amazing to me!
We took the kids and met Erik's cousins, Mark & Joan (and some of their family) at Bavarian Oktoberfest in Glendale. The boys did really well considering that we took them out in the cold and kept them up way past their bedtime! Will saw his first pig head, John tried on Uncle Mark's hat and we listened to Alte Kameraden, the best German band in Milwaukee!

4 handsome Brandstaetter boys
Breakfast time with John, Will & Bear. Bear really seems to be enjoying his apple.
Shopping with Nana and we found a cool sign about Lego Fest. Will posed for momma!
It was unseasonably warm in early October so we went outside and had some bike riding time followed by some wrestling time!
We made some delicious Halloween cookies and decorated them.
We got his angry bird stuffed animal (that cackles) from our friends Steve & Jennifer before he was born. He just discovered it in his room and thinks its pretty much the coolest thing ever.
Erik picked up this stereo cabinet/record player off of Craigslist for $60. It needs a little bit of work. And by a little bit, I mean a lot.
I gave John John his first haircut, complete with a cut on his ear. Just add me to the worst mother of the year club. He was a champ and barely even noticed I nicked him. Poor baby.
Bike riding in the driveway is definitely one of our favorite things to do on a nice day. John discovered the tricycle and thinks he's a pretty big boy when he scoots around on it.
Now that is a nice looking outfit, little man. I'm not sure what I like best, the doggy jammies, train bathrobe or frog hat.
The boys playing with their new wooden toys from Erik's friend Bret who owns Grow with the Grain (an Etsy shop). We also have a train and a robot and the boys really love their new cars (complete with their names) and a personalized cell phone for John.
John was a little confused about how the phone worked. Now he's got it!
A brisk morning trip to The Home Depot, complete with a double race car shopping cart. The boys really enjoyed driving around the store.
Will setup a book for Scout and Catnap to do some light reading in his bed.
Another day, another bike ride in the driveway.
A Will selfie!
I cleaned and painted the inside of the stereo cabinet to try and get rid of the musty smell. Next stop is to the refinisher and Erik will take the stereo parts to be looked at by a local audio place.
Big brother feeding little brother a morning snack in his pack n play.
John loves that little tikes bike. It's been great having a nice October with plenty of days to play outside.
Getting ready for our almost 3 year old's birthday party!
Two of his favorite birthday presents were his Lightning McQueen race cars. He wanted to snuggle with them while watching TV and enjoying his morning milk.
Post birthday party hats at breakfast time.
We started potty training the week of his 3rd birthday. The key for us was moving the potty seat into the living room on day 2. He did great! I was so proud of this little guy for taking another life change in stride and being a big boy about it.
Playing with one of his new birthday presents - building puzzles with shapes!
Will's birthday breakfast!
Erik's belated birthday present - I had a base case built for him to display the base he "stole" at Miller Park when we went to the game back in September.
