Erik and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary this year.

We started the celebration on Friday night by going out to dinner at the Gasthaus in Waukesha. We had our rehearsal dinner at Mader's downtown and having a German meal on our wedding anniversary eve (is that a thing?) has become sort of a tradition for us.

The kids were at my parent's house for the weekend so we stayed home that night and enjoyed the quiet in the house. Although if you ask me, a house without 2 crazy kids and a smelly dog is too quiet!

The next morning we headed to downtown Milwaukee and did a walking tour of the city and learned a lot about the history of Milwaukee and the architecture of its buildings. It was very interesting and if you have ever had any interest in doing one I highly recommend it!

We stopped at the Pfister as part of the walking tour and had our picture taken in front of the hotel.

Once the tour was finished we took the opportunity to stop at some of the places we had wedding photos taken.

After our mini photo session we hit up Milwaukee Brewing Company for a tour. We thought it started at the Ale House but its actually on 2nd Street in Walker's Point. Its a little over a half mile walk and it was a beautiful day. That didn't keep me from complaining that it was too hot. Ha! Luckily, once we arrived, the beer made me forget how warm I was. 

The tour itself is not as good as Lakefront Brewery tour, but the samples you get while on this tour make up for it. Trust me on that one. 

We befriended a bachelor party while we were on our tour and they invited us to join them at Great Lakes Distillery. I stopped to buy some cheese & pretzels in the little shop (aka the bar) next to Milwaukee Brewing Company and then we walked to the Distillery and met up with our bachelor party friends. 

While at the Distillery we ended up at a table with another couple and befriended them as well. Apparently we make lots of friends when we've been drinking! We invited them to join us at Estabrook Biergarten for some liters of beer and German folk music. We were already meeting Erik's cousins and some of his other family there and thought it would be fun to have our new friends join us as well! 

After the Biergarten, we made it to our dinner reservation at Zarletti, a fantastic Italian restaurant downtown. We enjoyed our dinner but were exhausted after such a long day and made our way back to our hotel.

The next morning, we had brunch at the restaurant in our hotel and Erik had the really cute idea to take pictures in front of our floor number at the hotel. I thought it was a weird idea at first, but then he pointed out that we were on the 6th floor and were celebrating our 6th anniversary. It only made sense to have our pictures taken in front of the 6!

On our way home we stopped at Miller Park to take a couple photos of ourselves in front of the stadium (again with that silly reminiscing). 

This was the closest we could get to home plate.

We explored a little bit and watched a few minutes of Little League at Helfaer Field.

Then it was time for a couple more pictures before we headed to my parents' house to pick up the boys.

All in all it was a fun, busy, exhausting weekend. Happy 6th Anniversary to the love of my life. If given the chance, I'd marry you again in a heartbeat.
