Dear William {2 Years}

Dear William
Will, my little trouble maker. My sweet little boy who is turning into a little man more and more with each passing day. You turned 2 just over one month after becoming a big brother, one of only many milestones in the last year of your life.

We celebrated your 2nd birthday with a very small gathering of family in Wisconsin the weekend before you turned 2. We had an airplane themed birthday party for you, complete with an airplane cake that momma made special, just for you.

The next day, we went trick or treating. You dressed as a safari guide and we dressed your little brother up as a giraffe. To say you guys were adorable would be an understatement.

On your actual birthday we got to go an an airplane ride to South Carolina to celebrate a wedding. You were the ring bearer and you did a most excellent job of being the cutest ring bearer we've ever laid eyes on.

Now that you know how we celebrated your special day, here are some important things about you!

At the age of 2 you are not really talking, yet you are able to communicate with us so well it’s not even funny sometimes. You, my dear, are about as smart as they come. From stacking blocks to seeing airplanes in the sky that daddy and I haven’t even spotted yet to building puzzles and pointing out all of the animals correctly in your books and puzzles, you amaze us each and every day. Your gross and fine motor skills have pretty much always been ahead of the curve and when you turned 2 that was no different.

You have a little bit of OCD in you and like things to be just so. From parking your tonka dump truck in the corner of your room by your dresser to requesting a cloth napkin now when we sit down to eat. Your desire to have things in order is so funny.

You are such a sweetheart and are still as easy going as ever, even with your 2 year old personality shining through and the tantrums and pouty lips that come with the territory. You are a bit sensitive to things like clapping in church or to singing in large crowds (or small ones like at your 2nd birthday party where you cried when we sang to you). And you are still as much of a snuggle bug as ever.

You love your milk and for the most part you are a really good eater, especially at breakfast and lunch. You could take or leave dinner most days depending what momma makes for us but we always sit down as a family to eat once daddy gets home.

You love your daddy. And your dog. And your brother.

Your daddy can still make you laugh like nobody else, especially when he tickles you. I don’t know who is more excited for him to come home from work most days, you or Stella. Daddy is still your main bath giver and it’s a special time that the 2 of you get to have together once he is home for the day.

Stella puts up with you much better than we ever thought she would and we have to remind you sometimes to be nice by not chasing her with your shopping cart around the house. It’s her fault most times since she seems to get right in your way and almost seems to egg you on to chase her.

And you are just such a good big brother that it makes me want to cry tears of joy. You are very concerned when John is crying and want to make sure he has what he needs, whether it be a nuk or a burp cloth. You motion to me that I should pick him up by putting your hand behind his head and your arm under him to show momma how to do it so that he will stop crying. And when he makes funny faces or noises you think he is one of the funniest people you have ever seen. And, of course, being a boy, one of your favorite things that he does is toot and you think it’s the most hilarious thing ever. My heart overflows when you stop playing in order to come over and smile at him just because.
You make momma so proud every day with what an amazing big brother you have become over these last few months.

Thank you for being our sweet boy. We love you so much.

Love,
Your momma
